Jules Faivre was born in Lyons, France, on 30 March 1867. He studied at Lyons and in Paris. He became a well-known cartoonist working for magazines such as Le Rive and Echo de Paris. He also painted portraits and produced several posters for the French government during the First World War. Faivre died in Paris in August 1945.
