Albert Kaye was recruited by Sheffield Wednesday while playing for his local village side. He had four seasons with the the club before moving south to join Chatham. In 1900 Arnold Hills decided to bring in some experienced players to his new West Ham side. The club made several new signings that year including Kaye, Hugh Monteith (Bristol City), Fergus Hunt (Arsenal), Freddie Fenton (Gainsborough), James Reid (Port Vale), George Radcliffe (Grimsby Town) and Billy Grassam (Port Vale). Kaye played in all the forward positions but in his 17 games he scored only 4 goals. At the end of the season he left England to play in Northern Ireland.
